Causes of a Failed EGR Valve
EGR valves become stuck and fail at the electric actuator due to build-up of carbon deposits.
Driving with a faulty EGR valve can cause damage to the particulate filter and/or catalytic converter.
Symptoms of a faulty EGR valve
- Loss of power, “engine choked”
- Anti-pollution light on
- Vehicle stalls
- Smoke emission (in some cases)
- Technical inspection refused due to pollution
